Today it has emerged that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are chasing highly rated Spanish forward, Inaki Williams. Williams is 23 years of age and currently plays for his hometown club of Atletic Bilbao. The suggested fee is in the region of £15 million.
What would he bring?
If he was to sign, Williams would bring direct football, pace and a lot of potential to Anfield. He can play as either an out and out striker or on the wing and would give Klopp another dimension going forward. Williams played 38 times for Bilbao in the league last season netting five goals and assisting a further seven.
Do Liverpool need him?
With the rumours of Coutinho’s impending departure not going away any time soon, it seems like it would be a very sensible move by Klopp to find a potential replacement for the Brazilian before any possible move away. Williams would be a very capable replacement but he doesn’t quite offer the same style of play or quality Liverpool currently get from Coutinho.
Coutinho is rumoured to be heading to Barcelona for an eyebrow raising £90 million. Although Williams may not quite be Coutinho, he would be significantly cheaper and would free up some cash for Klopp to improve that dodgy defence of his.
We think Williams would be a great signing for Klopp’s side. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
