Is Case Keenum the right fit for Denver?

It’s now official, Denver Broncos have signed QB Case Keenum on a 2 year contract worth $36 million from Minnesota Vikings. But, we want to know what Broncos fans think of the decision.

Last year was by far the best season of Case Keenum’s NFL career to date as he racked up over 1,000 more yards than he ever had in one season, threw 22 touchdown passes and held an accuracy rating of over 67%. In the previous four years, he only had a total of 24 touchdown passes so that shows how much of an improvement there was.

Denver are very much on the look out for that all important ‘franchise QB’ but it is widely thought Case Keenum is more of a short-term fix for their problems. Here are a selection of tweets from Broncos Country when the deal was announced:

Not a whole lot of positivity around the signing there from those Broncos fans, but not everyone was quite so disappointed:

So we have conflicting views among the fans (and Steve Atwater) but for the most part, the signing seems somewhat underwhelming.

What will Keenum bring to the team?

Well, we know he’ll likely be the starter for the 2018 season regardless of who the team draft at that number five spot. Last season we saw he is very good under pressure, and that’s a trait he is going to need in Denver next season what with that shoddy Offensive line.

Many Broncos fans are hoping to see a QB drafted at number five still and it was reported Denver’s scouts were keeping a very close eye on Baker Mayfield at his pro day last week, so it seems clear that Keenum is just a short term fix.

What do you think? Was Keenum the right choice for John Elway? Who would you draft at number five?
